Surface grafted semiconductor layer via surface initiated ring-opening polymerization of L-lysine NCA derivatives

we successfully synthesized two novel asymmetric/symmetric PBI functionalized lysine N-carboxylic anhydride(NCA)and developed the surface initiated ring-opening polymerization (SI-ROP) as a simple and efficient method to prepare compact n-type organic semiconductor layers onthesilicon wafer. The thickness of grafted polymerscould be controlled by reaction temperature/time and repeated initiation method. Our results presented a promising route forthesurface modification from organic semiconductor functionalized NCA monomers via SI-ROP, which could render their potentials in large area molecular electronic devices.
